We are making great progress with our new roads program.  The previous administration badly neglected the painting of our roads, and this is significant factor in the impression that the roads themselves are in a bad condition.

Often the roads are not in that bad a technical condition but the signs and lines let them down, that said of course the roads are also in a generally poor state and even with our greatly increased spending its going to take 10 years or more to get them back to a proper condition.

There will also be a significant surface dressing program.  Previously the technical condition had been so bad we only had funds for the very worse roads, and that meant that many wards such as College got almost nothing.  Fortunately that will now change.
